The BHD318/00 is from Philips’s “3000 Series” hair dryers, marketed for everyday use.
It uses a 1600 W power rating, which provides good airflow for drying hair without being excessively high in power.
Key features include:
ThermoProtect attachment: an airflow accessory that mixes warm & cool air to protect hair from overheating.
Advanced ionic care: helps reduce frizz and add shine to the hair by releasing ions during drying.
3 heat and speed settings + a cool-air setting to finish styling.
Foldable handle/design for easy storage or travel.
Technical specs: Cord length of ~1.8 m, voltage 220-240 V, motor type DC.
According to the site, the official page states this model is “no longer available” (or at least marked that way on Philips India’s site).
Effective drying with lower heat: The 1600 W rating strikes a balance—enough power to dry hair reasonably fast, but with the ThermoProtect system to avoid overly high temperatures that can damage hair.
Frizz control & smoother finish: Ionic technology helps reduce static and frizz, which is beneficial especially in humid climates or for fine/medium hair.
Versatility in styling: Multiple heat/speed options + a cool-air shot means you can tailor the drying to your hair type (thick, fine, long, short) and finish with a cool blast to lock the style.
Travel or storage friendly: Foldable design is a plus for those who travel or have limited space for storage.
Trusted brand + warranty: Being from Philips, you get support, spare parts access (in many cases) and a warranty (2 years in India) according to the retail specs.
Here’s a recommended workflow to get the most out of the BHD318 hair dryer:
Prep your hair
Towel-dry your hair to reduce excess water, so you’re not using full power from soaking wet hair.
Optionally apply a heat-protectant spray if you often style with higher heat.
Ensure hair is roughly damp—not dripping—for better drying and less damage.
Choose the setting
For thicker or longer hair: maybe start with the higher heat/speed setting to remove most water.
For fine hair or when you want less heat/damage: use a lower heat + speed setting.
Use the cool-air setting at the end to set your style and reduce heat exposure.
Drying & styling
Hold the dryer at ~10-15 cm from your hair, move steadily. Avoid holding in one place for too long (which can overheat hair).
Use the ThermoProtect attachment if your model includes it, as it mixes warm-cool air to protect hair.
Direct airflow down the hair shafts (from root to tip) to smooth cuticle and enhance shine.
Once hair is mostly dry, switch to the cool-air blast to finalize style.
After use & care
Unplug the dryer, let it cool down.
Clean the air-intake grille (dust/hair can build up and reduce airflow).
Wrap the cable loosely (don’t kink it).
Store it in a dry place. If you travel, fold the handle and use a carry pouch if available.
