The product is part of the Kryolan “Dermacolor Camouflage Creme” line — described by Kryolan as “an especially highly-pigmented make-up which is designed to correct and cover skin disfigurements, discolorations and tattoos.”
Shade: D4½ (sometimes written “D 4 ½”) — a mid-light/medium skin-depth shade within the “D-series”.
Size: 4 g (refill / compact size) — suitable for targeted correction or professional kit use.
Key claims: When used with the full Dermacolor system (Cream + Fixing Powder + Fixing Spray) the coverage becomes waterproof and can withstand extreme conditions (e.g., swimming, heat, physical strain).
The shade palette is extensive, and shades are inter-mixable (so you can tweak undertone or depth).
High-coverage correction: Because this is a camouflage cream rather than a lighter foundation, it allows strong coverage of uneven skin tone, spots, scars etc — this is especially beneficial for visual assets where uniform skin appearance matters.
Professional grade durability: The system claim of being waterproof (when set) and suitable for extreme conditions makes it well-suited for shoots, long wear days, or in hot/humid conditions (like many regions in India).
Shade specificity: The “D4½” value gives a precise depth/undertone match — useful when you have models with subtle tonal variations and you need consistency across brand visuals.
Compact & kit-friendly size: The 4 g size makes it handy for corrective use or for makeup-kits of professionals doing brand/visual work.
Inter-mixable: You can mix adjacent shades if you need fine tuning of the skin tone — useful in campaigns where lighting/screen devices vary.
Here’s a step-by-step usage guide tailor-made for your brand/asset context:
Skin Prep
Cleanse and moisturize the area you will apply the cream to. Because the formula is dense and highly pigmented, you want the skin surface to be smooth and hydrated to avoid the product settling into texture.
If the model has oily skin or the shoot is in a humid environment, consider using a mattifying primer or blot excess oil before application.
Apply the cream
Using a clean spatula, finger tip, or fine brush, pick up a small amount of the D4½ cream.
Warm the product slightly (e.g., on the back of your hand or palette) to make it more pliable and easier to blend. (Kryolan suggestion: “For best results always warm the cream to body temperature by mixing it on the back of your hand.”)
Dab the cream onto the area needing correction (patch, discolouration, full face if you intend).
Blend carefully into surrounding skin so no harsh edges remain — in high-resolution visuals, the transition must be seamless.
Build & adjust coverage
Because the formula is very pigmented, you may only need moderate amount. For areas needing stronger coverage (e.g., scars, tattoos), use a second thin layer rather than one heavy coat — this helps maintain texture control and natural finish.
Fix and set
After applying and blending, apply the matching Fixing Powder (and optionally Fixing Spray) from the Dermacolor system to lock in the coverage and enhance durability and water/sweat resistance. This is especially critical for your brand-asset shoots in hot/humid climates or under lights.
Use a puff or brush to press in the powder, and remove any excess so the finish remains smooth.
Proceed with makeup/asset production
Once the area is corrected and set, you can continue with further makeup (foundation for other areas, blush, eyes, lips) according to your brand’s visual aesthetics.
Because you work across different formats (desktop, mobile, square), do a quick test capture—see how the corrected area appears under your shoot lighting and on the screen/display you’ll use. Make sure the tone is consistent and lighting doesn’t shift it too much.
Removal & after-care
At the end of the session, remove the makeup thoroughly. Because of high pigment and potential occlusive ingredients, using a quality makeup remover (especially oil-based or professional strength) is advisable.
Follow with your skincare routine to maintain skin health — especially important if you use corrective products frequently in your brand shoot workflows.
