The product line: Kryolan Dermacolor Camouflage Creme is described as “an especially highly-pigmented make-up which is designed to correct and cover skin disfigurements, discolorations and tattoos.”
Shade: DFD (listed among the available shade codes in the palette list)
Size: 4 g (refill format) — standard for the camouflage creme line.
Key claims: The product states that when fixed with the corresponding Fixing Powder / Fixing Spray from the system, it becomes waterproof and protects skin under extreme conditions (swimming, heat, physical strain) and from damaging UV radiation.
Broad shade range & inter-mixability: The brand emphasises an “extensive range of shades … intermixable … gives the make-up a natural appearance when applied correctly.”
Very high-coverage corrective formula: Excellent for covering significant skin unevenness, scars, hyperpigmentation, performance/visual-asset use.
Professional grade: Because it’s part of the Kryolan pro line, it suits high-visibility uses (photography, brand shoots) where consistent and durable coverage is needed.
Durable finish & system support: When used with the full Dermacolor system (creme + fixing powder + spray) you get enhanced durability and resistance to sweat/humidity — useful if you’re in a warm/humid environment like India or shooting under studio conditions.
Shade flexibility: Having a shade like DFD means potentially a specific undertone/depth which helps in matching models or brand visuals; the inter-mixable nature helps you fine-tune matching.
Kit-friendly size: The 4 g size is convenient for corrective use (targeted spots) and fits well into makeup kits when you’re producing multiple assets.
Prep the skin
Cleanse and moisturize the area to be corrected. Since this is a high-pigment creme, ensure the skin surface is smooth (no heavy dry patches or flakiness).
If the skin is oily or the shoot environment is warm/humid, consider using a light mattifying primer or blotting excess oil.
Warm the product
Use a clean spatula or finger/brush to take a small amount of the creme.
Warm it slightly (for example on the back of your hand) to soften it and make blending easier — Kryolan’s tip: “For best results always warm the cream to body temperature by mixing it on the back of your hand.”
Apply the product
Dab the creme onto the area needing coverage (e.g., patch, scar, uneven tone).
Blend the edges into surrounding skin carefully to avoid visible lines of demarcation. Given the high pigment, start with a thin layer and build up if needed rather than applying too much at once.
Fix/Set
After application and blending, apply the matching Fixing Powder and/or Fixing Spray from the Dermacolor system to lock the coverage and give durability. This step is especially important if you’re shooting or in warm/humid conditions.
Finish the rest of your makeup
Once fixed, you can continue with the rest of your makeup workflow (foundation for unaffected areas, blush, eye makeup, etc.). For visual-asset work, check the corrected area under your actual lighting/camera set-up to ensure consistency.
Removal & aftercare
At the end of shoot or wear, use a proper makeup remover (especially since this is heavy-coverage, professional creme) and follow with your usual skincare. Frequent corrective use benefits from good skin-care after removal to maintain skin health.
